WHY THIS COMPETITION?
     
I created the International Helen Victoria Haynes WORLD PEACE Storyboard & Animation Scholarship Competition with a small annuity that was received when my mother passed away. I wanted to use the money in a way that would honor her memory by doing something useful and fun, that I would also be interested in working on, like animation. 'Vickie', as she was called by many of her friends and relatives, enjoyed having a good time – yet she was also a devoted parishioner and hard-working committee-woman at her church.  I think that she would have wanted to help young people and that she would have had a good time while helping them.  If we can achieve WORLD PEACE in the process, all the better.
