RULES - YEAR 1
     
SUBMIT STORYBOARD ENTRY

Draw Storyboard for an animation that you will produce depicting your vision of 'How to Achieve World Peace' as the title, and with the words 'May Peace Prevail On Earth' included somewhere in the animation. Use any medium: color pencil, ink, marker, etc. on a white background. Storyboards should be created in a standard storyboard format.
 
Send, with appropriate postage, the following 10 items which include your completed Checklist.
Photocopy & use the following list as your package CHECKLIST.

STUDENT SUPPORT MATERIALS
Entrants are required to submit STUDENT SUPPORT MATERIALS, including a short biography and samples of your drawing abilities or other completed projects (smaller than 9" x 12"), which you and your Faculty Advisor have selected together that you think will favorably influence the judges. All STUDENT SUPPORT MATERIALS must be neat, clearly labeled as STUDENT SUPPORT MATERIALS and typed, or legibly printed.
     
NUMBER OF STORYBOARD ENTRIES

Only one (1) Storyboard entry per student Applicant may be entered in Year 1.

     
COLLABORATIONS

When multiple artists collaborate on an animation, only one person  will receive prizes & Complimentary
Registration to the annual Midwest Animators Conference & Retreat or KAFI. This is the Student Applicant whose name is entered on the Application Form.

     
  MULTIPLE COLLABORATERS & COLLABORATERS REQUIREMENTS
 

Multiple artists may collaborate to complete the Animation in Year 2 -  but only one (1) Application in only one (1) package must be submitted, and only one (1) set of prizes will be awarded to the Applicant of the winning entry. No multiple prizes are awarded. Collaborators must submit support materials. Collaborators' support materials will not be returned under any circumstances. No exceptions.

Each item of each Collaborator's Support Materials  must be clearly labeled with 'COLLABORATOR SUPPORT MATERIALS for XXX', where 'XXX' is the name of  the one Student Applicant.

For example, if  the applicant is named “Student A”, and they have three additional collaborators working with her to the complete the animation, the support materials must be clearly labeled as in the following example:

COLLABORATOR SUPPORT MATERIALS for Student A - by Student B
COLLABORATOR SUPPORT MATERIALS for Student A - by Student C
COLLABORATOR SUPPORT MATERIALS for Student A - by Student D

A VHS videotape with all COLLABORATORS SUPPORT MATERIALS may be submitted. Only one (1) VHS videotape may be submitted containing COLLABORATORS SUPPORT MATERIALS.

A CD with all COLLABORATORS SUPPORT MATERIALS may be submitted. Only one (1) CD may be submitted containing COLLABORATORS SUPPORT MATERIALS.

A DVD with all COLLABORATORS SUPPORT MATERIALS may be submitted. Only one (1) DVD may be submitted containing COLLABORATORS SUPPORT MATERIALS.

Only 1 format for COLLABORATORS SUPPORT MATERIALS will be accepted. For example, Suzy Student may submit one DVD of her collaborators' support materials. But she cannot submit a DVD plus a VHS.
They can only submit COLLABORATORS SUPPORT MATERIALS in one of the three formats above.

Collaborators must NOT submit an Application Form.

     
NEATNESS COUNTS

Applications, Support Materials and Storyboards must be neatly presented and labeled, and typed or legibly printed. Student Applicant Support Materials must be clearly labeled 'STUDENT SUPPORT MATERIALS'.

If there will be collaborators on the animation, Collaborators Support Materials must be clearly labeled 'COLLABORATORS SUPPORT MATERIALS'.

     
FACULTY ADVISORY INFORMATION
Faculty advisor information  that must be submitted as part of the entrant’s support materials, are:

Short Faculty Advisor Bio  
• 
Short Faculty Advisor Statement  
• 
Copy of current Faculty Advisor's ID  
     

The Faculty Advisor Statement should describe how the Faulty Advisor plans to coach/guide the student in
completing the animation. This includes resources that will be made available to the student, or allowing the
student to complete the film for satisfying course requirements, etc. The Faculty Advisor support materials confirms the probability of a completed animation.
